Washington, DC – Former Senator Rick Santorum will visit South Carolina on December 8 and 9, 2009 in support of Congressman Gresham Barrett’s bid for governor.  He will make stops in Sun City-Bluffton near Hilton Head, Spartanburg and Greenville.

“I’m pleased to support a solid conservative for governor of South Carolina.  Congressman Gresham Barrett has demonstrated a strong commitment to fiscal responsibility, social conservatism and strengthening our nation’s security.  And in my opinion, he is the most qualified to serve as South Carolina’s chief executive,” Santorum said, who will headline a Barrett for Governor fundraiser and participate in several campaign events.

“I’m also looking forward to visiting with South Carolina families to discuss the issues that matter to them and the future of this country.  Too much is at stake to sit back and not participate in the critical discussion of how to address these issues,” said Santorum.

Former Senator Santorum will discuss how rising unemployment, government takeover of health care and President Obama’s reckless national security policies are plaguing our country.

In early October, former Senator Santorum visited Iowa for stops in Des Moines and Dubuque.  He also visited Michigan in mid-October to keynote Grand Rapids’ annual Right to Life dinner.

Details of Senator Santorum’s stops in South Carolina will be made available to the media in the coming days.  Future Santorum travel to other states will also be released in the near future.
